AWESOME
AND AMAZING VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
We are looking for a
few of new members for the Meadowdale Sports boosters board. Several positions
need "shadows" as parents have graduating seniors this year. It's the perfect
opportunity to get involved without having too much responsibility as you learn
the ropes. If you are interested, please contact Lisa Hummel at
thehummels5@gmail.com or Kathy Coffey
at bonzodiva@gmail.com.
Vice President - Would prefer
freshman or sophomore parent. Share the responsibilities with another parent to
help
with student led fund raising and
support other officers as needed. This position will assume presidency in two
years.
Communications Coordinator - SHADOW - Update gomavs.org website
and Facebook. Write and send out press releases. You can work with current
coordinator to define this position to best fit the club's needs and your own.
Team Gear Sales/Merchandise Coordinator - SHADOW - A
great system is in place to supply our athletes and parents
with up to date MHS gear. Work
with the current coordinator to coordinate gear requests, sell gear at home
football
games and work with vendor to serve
individual teams.
Senior Sports Banquet Coordinator - Annual job for parent of
junior. Put your team together and select theme, menus
and coordinate decorations and
entertainment. There are parents around that have done this to offer guidance
for you.
Feed

ins and outs of inventory and operations
for the feedbag. Weekly
inventory, daily operating and on-going shopping are all part of this position.

Thank you! 2011 "Mardi Gras for Mavs" Auction
Raises $40,000
On Saturday, February 5, 2011, the Meadowdale Sports Booster Club
hosted the Mardi Gras for Mavs auction and dinner at Harbor Square Athletic Club
in Edmonds. This festive evening was enjoyed by 193 guests and will be long
remembered for the enthusiastic support and generosity of our Meadowdale
community. The evening began with guests enjoying hors d'oeuvres and drinks
(including New Orleans Hurricanes) while chatting away with friends and coaches.
The fun kicked up several notches as auction attendees tried to outbid each
other for the 140+ silent auction items and baskets.
The festivities continued as guests dined on a Cajun-Creole
themed dinner prepared by Celebrations Catering followed by the popular dessert
dash. The highlight of the evening was the live auction conducted by
Meadowdales own Kevin ONeil and auctioneer, Ron Hannon. Their spirited
encouragement and occasional prodding brought cheers, laughter and good-natured
ribbing.
Thanks to the generous support of our auction attendees,
donors, coaches, school administration and tireless parent and student
volunteers. The Booster Club raised over $40,000 at the event, bringing our
total proceeds raised over the past two years to $70,000. These funds will be
used to support MHS student athletes and our common goal: improving the quality
and accessibility of Meadowdales athletic programs.
On behalf of the Auction Committee, our heartfelt thanks and
gratitude to all who gave their time, talent, resources and support in making
the Mardi Gras for Mavs auction an amazing success. Special thanks to Jack
Tawney, Guy Schoonmaker and Harbor Square Athletic Club for the generous use of
their facility and to Principal Dale Cote and Athletic Director Chris Murphy for
supporting our student athletes, their education and our community.
